Congratulations to Ron Kanter for his appointment to the Toronto Local Appeal Body

Macdonald Sager is pleased to announce that Ron Kanter has been appointed to the Toronto Local Appeal Body (TLAB), a tribunal which regularly hears appeals from the Toronto Committee of Adjustment concerning lot splitting and minor variances.

Ron has practised municipal, planning and development law for more than 30 years. In addition to sitting on TLAB, he will continue to act as a mediator, adjudicator and arbitrator, primarily in land use and construction disputes.

Ron is certified as a mediator by the Harvard Law School and as an adjudicator for Ontario construction contracts.

In addition to his legal practice, Ron has played an active role in his community. He has chaired committees for the Toronto Region Board of Trade and the City of Toronto. He has advised provincial and foreign governments on municipal governance and is contacted frequently by the media to comment on municipal and planning issues. Prior to practising law, Ron served as a municipal councillor and provincial MPP.

Ron will retire from private practice in the fall of 2022. The firm thanks Ron for his substantial contributions and wishes him all the best in this next chapter.
